Full Stack Developer (Freelance)

Job description

Are you a Freelance Full Stack Developer, looking for an energetic and mission-driven work environment? Do you want to play a role in speeding up the energy-transition? Then this opportunity might be just right for you!

About Sungevity

Our mission is simple but important: covering all roofs with solar panels to boost the energy transition. To spark this ‘rooftop revolution’, we are dedicated to making solar energy easy, affordable and fun. To accelerate our mission, we are looking for new solar warriors to join our passionate and international team.

Our 150 committed employees work hard to make our mission reality. We do this from our laid-back office in the north of Amsterdam or flexible from home. Together with our partners, installers and customers, we are building a new generation: Generation Sun. Curious to get to know our organization and culture? Have a look at our job page!

What to expect of the Technology & Innovation department?

Our team has great humour (really we do). We support each other, and we love to learn from each other. We like to hang out together: we go for drinks or do other fun activities.

We have 3 roles in our department:

  1. IT Helpdesk Technician

  2. Full Stack Developers

  3. Business Analysts

Our team has 9 members, consisting of 4 nationalities! We work in an agile way, aiming to keep the time between designing a solution and having it online as short as possible. We prefer simple over complicated solutions. The Technology & Innovation department is self-organizing, and we expect you to actively participate in improving the team and our way of working. The department is active in all parts of our business, from sales to installations, from customer portals to solar-system performance monitoring. You will be supported by, and reporting to the Head of Technology & Innovation in this role. Here's a few of the systems our team is currently responsible for:

  • Customer facing websites and portals (in both Belgium and the Netherlands);

  • Sales & Installation process support systems;

  • Solar System monitoring;

  • Reporting and alerting on our customer’s Solar System performance;

  • And many more!

We are currently running a large project to replace our CRM and other services (such as invoice and planning) with a more integrated and streamlined architecture led by Odoo (ERP/CRM). Also, we continue expanding our Solar System monitoring platform. The platform is set up with separate frontends connected to a microservice backend running on AWS Lambda’s (serverless) combined with AppSync for GraphQL endpoints. We use Typescript for the backend and Javascript in the frontend. For our frontends we use VueJS v2 and v3.

We are looking for a Freelance Full Stack Developer who can help the team to further expand and optimize our stack.

Requirements

Are you the Solar Warrior we are looking for?

  • You are a Freelance Full Stack Developer that likes working project based and diving into matters;
  • You are looking for a temporary position for at least 3 months;
  • Medior/senior level: you have experience with coaching other developers and working in an Agile environment;
  • Experience with Javascript and PostgreSQL is a strong plus;
  • Proactive and you enjoy sharing your expert knowledge;
  • You like to 'get the job done' in the least complex way possible;
  • A CI-advocate and you like to work DevOps style;
  • You have worked on setting up new systems before, containing multiple connected services, API’s and authentication;
  • You are a team player and you can handle a lot of responsibilities;
  • Fluent in English;
  • You have a valid permit to work in The Netherlands.

The benefits

  • A dynamic job in an mission-driven company where you can make a real impact;
  • A versatile, independent and challenging project for a minimum of 3 months;
  • An hourly salary of €70-90 (depending on experience & fit);
  • Hybrid working: the option to work from home a couple of days per week or together in our office in the north of Amsterdam;
  • Working in an ambitious, international team with room to both coach and learn;
  • An informal work environment that values inclusivity, teamwork and fun;
